How Can I Remove CA Certificate From Android Phones

There are some apps I enjoy using that are not available on the Play Store. The Play Store does not allow any apps that are banned from the store. There is no Play Store for these types of apps, but they can be downloaded directly from the apps’ website. One of them is Adaway which is a open source adblocker for Android to block apps from Android in showing advertisements.

It has its own website and users can download and use it. It installs one certificate which is a CA certificate. It monitors traffic through these certificate installation and host file and when you uninstall Adaway from Android, it will simply uninstall from app but its certificates not be uninstalled through it. This means even if you uninstall it , will continuosly monitor yours device androuid traffic inflow.

If you are using the app then it is ok but after uninstallation it continues to show that it is monitoring the network traffic and for this it is essential to understand that we have to remove these certificates manually after uninstallation of Adaway or other such host based adblocker. With the advent of Android 11 thus installation of CA certificates from third party cannot be done but in previous versions of windows this is there and for this it is important to understand and the go for the route from where these certificates can be installed easily.

Before uninstalling these unwanted CA certificates which might have been installed with the installation of above said applications you need to uninstall the said app first and then go for following developments.

  1. Go to Settings

2.Password & security

3.Scroll down

4.Now reach to Privacy

5.Click on it

  1. Scroll down to Advance

7.Click on Encryption & Credentials

8.Then go to Credential Storage

  1. Then go to Trusted Credentials

10.Click on it

  1. Now you have two tabs namely system and user inside Trusted Credentials
  2. Click on user and then delete the installed certificate there.

13.Go back to Encryption & Credentials

  1. Now reach to User Credentials from Credential Storage of Encryption & Credentials

15.Click on User credentials

  1. Select the certificate and delete it.

Now you can find that yours website is no longer watched or monitored and yours internet traffic and data and secure with end to end encryption mechanisms. Most of times all aps connect to the internet through HTPS secure connectivity and for this it is important that yours network traffic should not be monitored by any third party apps or its host files which can be visible through user credentials or CA certificate. These can be uninstalled by going through the following processes and for this it is important to go through these processes after uninstallation of the said apps.
