While reaching to temple in the morning I have found that nearer to Sri Jagannath Temple of Puri there are many vendors who are selling sweets and they named it as Lord Jagannath’s Prasad and most people tend to buy these khajas from there. In this article we will elaborate more about how pilgrims and devotees should not but Prasad as these are called by the outside shopkeepers which is not the Prasad of Lord.
When you reach towards Lion’s gate of Lord Jagannath Temple you will find that many temporary shops are opened and selling Khajas there and they will call these are straight from Jagannath Temple bhog prasadam which is not true and they are telling lies by saying so and also cheating the innocent devotees. Actually those sweets are selling on the roads are not prasadam from Lord Jagannath Temple as these are all man made and never ever goes inside of temple.
The bhog or the prasadam which are selling in and around outside temple are only sweets and they are not prasadam at all, and for prasadam the sweets needs to be prepared inside mega kitchen, and it needs to be done by servitor chef known in coloqual language as suar and then it goes into inside sanctum and sanctorium and then it needs to be worshipped in front of lord and all of these prepared with pure ghee and no other refined or any other vegetable oils are used.
Most innocent devotees think that these are Lord’s prasadam and they used to buy it from outside and the seller also pretend that these are bhog of Lord Jagannath and for this they tend to buy this but in fact the law is that bhog or prasadam needs to be sold by suaras not by any other person and it needs to be sold inside ananda bajar so that not at any point of time, these to be sold by people from outside. So, these are not the bhog and people who are visiting at Puri should see that they should buy from inside Anand bajar and not from any other places, as inside ananda bajar only suaras the chef priests of Lord Jagannath can sold it and there is also government counter where you can buy these inside ananda bajar.
Inside Anand bajar you can find bhogs and nothing else, and for this it is important to observethat when you buy sweets from outside of temple these are not bhogs as per reports to believe the sweets that are being sold there and perceivable falsely sell to devotees as the prasadam but these are not mostly the khajas are prepared by smashing the besanas through legs as most of these are prepared which are sold outside premises of Jagannath temple and falsely told to devotees that these are prasadam but these are not in actual and its mix the besan mix of Khajas are prepared through legs and foots of normal person and then these comes straight towards these shops.
As inner Brahmin priest of Lord Jagannath Temple, I would urge devotees not to buy these sweets from outside as these are not bhogas and these are not offered to Lord prior and these are completely sweets and mostly made in most unhygienic conditions with bad oil and with foot using workers to smash the batter of besans. First and foremost is that these outside sweets such as khajas and other white sweet granules are not offered to Lord Jagannath as they are being prepared by the people outside of temple. It is important for people to realize that these sweets which are sold outside and exposed outside all the time are full of dusts and these are prepared in not so hygienic place, and these are not prasadam of Lord Jagannath at all as these are sold in the areas outside temple.
All prasadam of Lord jagannath are sold inside ananda bajar and nothing are sold outside of it. All the prasadam are sold by priest cooks of Lord Jagannath and by no other else. So selling bhogs of Lord Jagannath temple outside of temple is not permitted at all. Devotees should buy these all by themselves from inside temple by heading over to anand bajar and then buy from there. This article is meant to educate devotees that do not buy khajas- the sweets from outside of temple premises as these are not bhogas, these are mde by people to sell for their business and mostly the outside dry sweets such as khajas are done in not so hygienic situation.
It is important to learn that when inside Lord Jagannath Temple then you should buy bhog and prasadam from inside temple and directly from inside Anand Bajar, and buy directly not through any third parties as you can all by yourself go directly inside anand bajar from government of odisha counter where you can find the real bhog and prasadam.
