How to make Chrome faster in Windows 7

Ever since Google Chrome evolves there is stiff competitions among various web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft  Edge, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Vivaldi and so many other browsers. Even Microsoft has shifted from its core browsing engine to Chromium engine. Even Opera shifted from its own browsing engine to core Chromium engine and they are evolving day by day. This means  Google Chrome is pioneer from among all modern web browsers.

Now in every Windows or Apple computers or smartphones we see use of Google Chrome and slowly Google is not providing uodates to some of older models such as windows 7. This means you will no longer get security and cumulative Chrome updates. Thi s means that you will never get Chrome updates on Windows 7 computers. Still you can use the following version of Chrome.

Version 109.0.5414.120 (Official Build) (64-bit) after this you will not get updates in Windows 7 computer as message from Google is as follows.

“To use Chrome on Windows, you’ll need: Windows 10 and up An Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that’s SSE3 capable.

How to make Chrome from Google  faster in Windows 7

  1. Open Google Chrome and go to upper right hand side and click on three dots and from the menu click on SETTINGS.
  2. From SETTINGS menu at the left hand side click on Performance
  3. Here you will find two subject menu ‘’Memory saver and Always keep these sites active”
  4. Here enable “memory Saver” enable it. According to Google by enabling Memory saver “When on, Chrome frees up memory from inactive tabs. This gives active tabs and other apps more computer resources and keeps Chrome fast. Your inactive tabs automatically become active again when you go back to them.”
  5. If you want some exceptions on some websites then in the second subject from always keep these sites active and from there click on ADD to add websites that should not be controlled within memory saver performance.
  6. From SETTINGS  and then go to SYSTEM and from there reach to disable following two subjects inside SYSTEM menu.
  7. Disable SETTINGS-à SYSTEMà Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed
  8.  Disable SETTINGS-à SYSTEMà Use hardware acceleration when available

Enable following functions on Chrome Flags to speed- up  Google Chrome on Windows 7

Chrome flags are Chromes experimental features which are disabled by default and you can access these experiments by putting following line on address bar of Google Chrome.  chrome://flags/

  1. Enable force dark mode:   chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark
  2. Enable GPU Rsterization : chrome://flags/#enable-gpu-rasterization
  3. Enable Quick Protocol:  chrome://flags/#enable-quic
  4. Enable smooth scrolling : chrome://flags/#smooth-scrolling
  5. Enable back forward cache : chrome://flags/#back-forward-cache

Some caution while using chrome://flags/

These are experimental features and might be unstable and if you think it is not doing any good to yours web browser then go to chrome://flags/ and Click on RESETT ALL to return back to default Chrome settings.

Above of some of steps to make Google Chrome faster in Windows 7. As Microsoft has made Windows 7 from its supported operating systems. Due to stopping of Chrome updates to Windows 7 above steps can be initiated by user to make Google Chrome perform better and faster in unsupported devices.
