I will describe how I find riding the electronically controlled Lectro C5i, the digital version of the Hero Lectro, over the next fifteen days. After using it for 15 days, I believe it is worth the investment of 30000 Indian rupees. This entire article is based upon my experience of Puri’s rainy season during September. I have seen how it performs during a rainy season and how it differs from the normal dry season.
On Sunday evening, as I was about to leave the office for home and about six o’clock was approaching, the call came for a meeting that took almost an hour and a half, and ended at half past seven. After exiting my cubicle, the rain was heavy as I approached the entrance. I wore my rain coat which I normally take with me always during seasons of rain. Having worn it, I am left with the question of how an electronic bike will perform in heavy rain.
Its battery, motor and throttle are waterproof, according to what I found online and in books on electronic bikes.Its meter on the dashboard need to be keep out from water and for this I started the meter and switched on electronic bicycle and then I connect it with its android mobile app with bluetooth and this means whether to turn on the light or change the speed and mode of driving then I can do it with my mobile application. So, if I cover the meter with clothes and keep it out of water then I do not have to worry about driving an electronic bicycle in heavier rains.
Heavy rain should not affect the meter or dashboard. As I will be covering it with clothes and fully protecting it from rain drops. Entire area and the marine drive is full of water and the road is full of water and as the motor is at the rear wheels and is fully covered and waterproof as well as the battery also covered and for this I have to see whether the opening of charging point is covered or not and I see it is covered with company cap cover and now from the garage I just have to start the meter and then switched on the bluetooth of android mobile and then already installed Hero Lectro App on it, and then connect bluetooth to mobile and then connected it with Smart Bike Mode and now the meter is completely connected with mobile app through Bluetooth.
Now the meter can be covered with clothes and I wrapped two clothes so that there will not be any leakage of water to meter from heavier rains.If I want to change from paddle modes to throttle mode then, I do not have to open meter in this thunderstorm but only have to use android mobile and electronic bicycle’s app namely Hero Lectro c5i android app and then I can do it wirelessly. After connecting Lectro C5i bluetooth with the phone’s bluetooth then I opened the Lectro app and then I went to settings and enabled ‘Smart Bike Mode’ as it provides Bluetooth connectivity of E-cycle in the android app.
I enabled smart bike mode and then went to app’s dashboard and then click on start ride and at the button it will show that GPS and bike are connected. It is important to see that both GPS and Bike must be connected in order to work Hero Lectro C5i remotely. Then, I watched upfront and found that the speed of rain is increasing and I have to go as the location is slowly getting isolated as well as office is about to be closed and I have two options of it one is that I have to stay at the office or go to home and I decided to go home.
I found that raining heavily and water is full in the roads and I decided to move and the road is full of water and cycling on the water with throttle mode makes driving super easier and with even water is full on the roads the electronic bicycle and it moves quite easily, without any difficulties, and motor is running quite easily. This proves that even with full flow of raining and water spraying from the road with full flow as the bicycle wheel spraying water as well as there is rain still the motor is working nicely and cycle is going on the smoother modes. Throttle is working nicely. Even with falling rain the throttle is working nice and there are not even stoppages of the movement of the electronic bicycle and it moves nicely without any difficulties.
One problem is that I found water falling into on my backs even rain slows down water jumps from rear bikes to my backs and I found that even in slow rains water jumps from rear wheels and starts spraying on my hair but apart from that even during heavier rains the electronic bicycle works like wonders and it safely reached me at home and cycle is working nicely.
