The School Picnic I Can Never Forget

In my writings I should be telling you about short stories that could be related to you, but these were mainly between facts and fictions, all had been derived from real life time experience. Here was the story. It was evening 8 PM , I was waiting for my daddy , hardware engineer , it seemed the waiting goes on forever as with each moments passed , there were anxiousness crippling into my mental aptitude and at last daddy reached home from the field office at about 9 PM on that day , if I remember correctly it was Saturday , we had planned to go to club , it was already late in the evening , we were already prepared , and daddy took some light supper and then went to refresh. I was at that time in the standard 8, reading at school, it was an absorbing school with excellent teaching staff due to good salary was being offered there and they got good pay scale as compared with that of any other government teachers.

They were very professional in their attitude and they want to build the nations through excellent teaching to students and the students there were excellent and cooperative. In the class , class teacher announced that there would be picnic and he urged all the students to go there and enjoy the life of nature as it was like the heaven in the earth. As a standard 8 student I was very excited to attain the picnic, but I was never permitted to go to picnic with class fellows in the wildest of imagination, due to protective nature of parents.

That was the time when there were no mobiles at the disposal, so there could be some worry in the store. Then, daddy sat and had a tea, I asked his permission to go for the picnic as I told him what the class teacher had told in the class gatherings, daddy listened and then I went to the verandah to see the garden and then daddy had a discussion with mummy and then daddy reached beside me and gave me the permission for picnic.

I was happy and so happy that I jumped above the floor and thanks daddy by embracing him that was the way to thank daddy always. Few days have passed…. It was the picnic day at last , I reached at school and reached with daddy there and then , I had loads of cool clothes to protect my health as cold always tended to catch me easy since my childhood days, then I sat near one school fellow , we talked with each other and then the bus ran through the clutches of hills by covering various curves and stiff roads , sometimes it did feel like that of we were travelling through a flight and when the bus goes downwards ,there would be the stiff curve of roads and it did feel that as if we were falling from a high distance, then at one point might be at the center of the square ,there was a temple and that place was known to be the accident spot, so the school bus would stay there for few seconds and then the driver offers some money to their head priest and then began to run the bus.

Ours class teacher was seating beside the seat of us , he told me that it was the tradition of these areas as they believe that if you did not stop the vehicle , then surely some mishap would happen somewhere in between. I was seating with Thandu , he was the son of a doctor , and he was a tribal and a good student like me and we tend to read difficult subject and he was also the native of this place , he told me that , if some one went through that temple and then to the left side of it a stiff curve that was straight down the cliff , you would find some mangoes tress , those were grown automatically as they said by nature Lord and that mangoes could be there for all seasons and there , you would see some monkeys those were never seen anywhere.

I said this was interesting, how you saw that, he laughed and said, his father was there and his village was there before he got the job and they turned into cities. He further added that, after passing through those mysterious mangoes trees which had fruits throughout the year, there will be a stiff dungeon half a kilometers away, and inside it there was Lord Shiva, known to very few people especially to their clan, a slow stream was running beside it a beautiful land of Lord and enchanting one he added further. The bus was now nearer to picnic spot , it was a short of plain land after a stiff of hilly roads had been passed ,thereafter , a river was flowing through , its water were crystals like clear and also teacher told us not to venture into river, as there were some creepy small creatures there within water , those would stuck with toes and remove the blood and add poison to you so , it was deadly , so ours enthusiasm of jumping into river and had a swim across it faded just like a detergent bubble within seconds.

Suddenly, few shouts were heard, and we ran there, but our class teacher, who had responsibility for all of ours class, stopped us from moving there, we learned later that lady teacher’s left leg had been broken due to wrong jumping from road to picnic spot, and her leg was twisted with stone that was there as the substitute for steps and then it slipped to give more pain, than it was anticipated. She was attended by the doctor who was with us as anticipation for such happenings, and that was a good move on the part of the school. Later, we knew she was English teacher, very good teacher with pleasing personality, she learned English grammar through some rules that was especially developed by her and that was very nice on the part of her and her influence in developing good English always appreciated.

After the picnic party over, we returned to bus and then attended the roll call and then, the bus left to our home and we were very tired and the bus ran smoothly, with English word competition and also short story telling going on inside the bus, and after one hour the bus stopped suddenly. What happened , our head teacher was worried, the driver said , bus was our of order and he needed four hours , as he had to call the mechanic and that would take 1 hour and then the repair of the bus would take 1 more hour.

We were worried , and then Thandu said , let us go by walk and we would go through the short route where we could reach the town within one hour , we decided to tell class teacher , and he was native of that place and he said let us went 20 of us and we then walked through the roads. There were dangers of wild animals could be trespassed and that was the reason we made one artificial light and then , after 10 minutes, one suburb surfaced, and class teacher went there , and after five minutes came five persons with arrows and other lighting instruments , they all were , tribal and then they guard us and we walked , in between we took rest and there were some breakfasts of the morning we tool hold of it before leaving from the bus and then we ate and walk after almost one hour of this foot journey , we reached at the square , from there we could see ours town, from among the hills and then we were very encouraged, after walking for few meters, I saw daddy , he was with ours beloved four wheeler, and also four to five four wheeler there, with respective uncles stood there, and we reached we all sat in those five four wheeler and returned to my town.

I asked daddy how did you sense that picnic bus got out of order, daddy told , ours head teacher, informed the nearby mining office and they phoned to the city mining office and in this way the message send and then they had reached here and also one substitute bus already on the way to get back the remaining students , teachers and staffs, in hearing this we all satisfied that all the school personnel and students would be safe as they could have some hurried experience inside the jungle road and now , we all get back to real life as the fear of the dark , the jungle , creatures and unknown slowly faded from my mind.
