I wrote this article way back in the year 2011 for my blospot website which has ovr three lacs of viewers. Slowly, I moved to self-hosted WordPress domain and mine has own domain and host and run my website with it and slowly, I got Adsense approved domain and sloly I try to build the audience for my website. During the year 2011 I wrote the aticle namely let me stay out from satelite television for continuosly four days. During those times the emergence of satelite television is at its peak and the advent of 4G interet was not there and utmost the 3 G internet was present. It was not suitable for streaming of videos and for this we do find that people are more related with cable television for this. Now, in 2020 year we do find that even relevance of cable and DTH televisions are in doubt as the presence of television series and serials are facing deep crisis.
Now, people are more related with, streaming services due to presence of high speed internet, series from that of Netflix, Hot star, Amazon, Sony Liv, Zee5 and so on does provide each and every series all at one go so people do not have to wait for the next day or end of the weekend to see what will happen next. Now, each and every part, can be seen one by one and this makes the customer to see and visit this in term of this to have the proper and closely knitted competition between cable or DTH services with that of the straming series and even in the “The Kapil Sharma Show” even invites the stars of ‘Lootcase’ which is popular series, of Hotstar streaming series, and this proves the importance attched with that of streaming services.
With the advent of lock down the braodcasting of televison serials stopped and that paves the way for popularity of streaming services as it provides important root for users to stay at home and see and enjoy the broadcast in real time and see each and every episodes of the series all in one go. This is providing deeper challenges to the daily soap operas as it is evident that people are not wanting to wait for anything even for one day and now they want to see every episode all at one go and want all of these to download offline and then see those all at one go to know about what should have been the conclusion of this and that maks difficult for television series to prove the point and it is one of the most fascinated dififculties daily soap operas on televison faces now.
After almost one decade of it now the situation is reversing. Now, people have more access to smart phones and now they can watch and see all of these webservices when they want it and they can stop these at their own convenience and then when they have the time they can begin again with it. Now, when television is preoccupied by mummy then I can watch currently the IPL with hotstar VIP subscription and then there is no way it is interrupted. If I read from newspaper that last day’s match and saw that one of my favourite player has played one of important andncritical innings and then you can see the highlight from application but with cable television you have to watch it out for times and wait for the time to see the highlight and many a times DTH televisions does not broadcast at yours convenient times but with app you can watch these matches at any point of times.
So, the fight between television and smart phone devices is on. Now, I can stay out from television and watch these from apps of android or apple devices without any difficulties. We have no doubt that after a decade even there could be a new format which will challenge the slowly generating popularities of streaming services and I might rewrite this article again to match the situation and the populairties of new medium, stay tuned.
