It entirely secures online activities, and each time any unknown tries to access your account it asks for the prompt on the registered phone or asks for Googe Authenticator app’s code.
Connect to the internet and open Google Settings. Under my account touch sign-in and security and scroll down and go to 2-step verification and touch this and open with the default browser, then provide the password to login to your account and then log in and enable two-factor authentication or prompt authentication for your account.

For every time you log in to Google services you need two-factor authentication and if you are using your own computer then you can save information in your browser so that you do not have to put that information time and again.
Web-based security checks up a tool of Google:
Go to a web-based security check up on Google from your Android device or from your computer. It secures your data and devices, add the extra layer of protection and check recent security and activity. First, sign it with your password.
