While moving into the streets of my local city, in the midst of rainy season where the rain has just surpassed and move out and now the direct sun ray is at its peak, the movement towards nearby Reliance Fresh seems to be one of the most difficult one. I tried to move towards the right hand side only to walk in the midst of shadows of tall buildings out there.
Most of the people inside Puri town have been parking their vehicles in front of their house and thus the most essential part of a foot path walking all across the roads is missing. If someone closely looks at the setup of the VIP road nearer to Darji Pokhari square of Puri one could find most of the people in front of their home have been putting and hiring shops for commercialisation.
What they do be that most of these shops cover most of the areas nearer to the road and that makes the movement in this high traffic road mostly difficult. This road connects the national highway with that of the sea beach and the alternative route to reach the famous Lord Jagannath Temple of Puri. That is, the reason most of inter state vehicles as well as intrastate vehicles would be entering and surprisingly this road is slowly becoming narrower day by day.
The most apathy that whenever the civil administration provides an update on this situation, still after some days people encroach the lands. Recently, municipal administration has been building foot paths but it comes up with stiffer people’s opposition. In the meantime, while thinking about all of these aspects I slowly reached towards Reliance fresh to buy some foods and other important groceries.
In the meantime, in the counter of reliance Fresh there is clearly written that we can pay through Paytm and for this, I installed Paytm and then add some cash from a bank account. In order to add the cash through a debit card to Paytm which is a secure method one need to enable the BHIM apply the intermediary government of India app which moderate and secure all card transactions and for this one need to enable it.
Cycle tube repair:
Sadly, even after scanning for Paytm Transactions The counter is not working good and I have to pay through cash as I have not brought the debit card for payment. This is one such glaring example is that even after trying hard for doing cashless transaction still I landed into the stage of cash transactions.
Then, I returned back from Reliance Fresh and move towards the arena towards the road leading to Puri railway station as most of these roads there are lesser crowded as well as the most of the road does have shadows all over it so that walking in the noon with straight sun over the head could be easier.
Secondly, while moving into these roads, there is a lesser chance of inter state vehicles and this movement into these roads becomes easier no doubt about it. I slowly, moved towards it towards home, and in the meantime, I saw one cycle repair shop and in the front of it there was a 16 years boys were standing with his bicycle. I looked towards it, as the middle-aged bicycle repaired is busy doing patch work on the front wheel of a bicycle and he asks the boy to go under the shed and remain there and wait for his cycle turn to repair.
I have seen from distance to distance there are many people with cycle repair shops and it is interesting to see how the tube of cycle is being repaired and most of times, I have seen, one could learn from these tricks and can do it at their home instead of moving towards cycle repair shop time and again for this. I then choose to watch how that function is working. From the distance I have seen this process is easier to do and for the first time I decided to watch it so that I could learn it and write an article on it.
It is important in order to learn everything so that whenever it needs it you can do it alone without any difficulties. First the shopkeeper asks the boy to upside down the cycle. Now, the seat of the cycle at the bottom and the wheels are now open so that the cycle repairs could repair it. From the conversation with the boy and the cycle shop owner it is evident that the tube of the front wheel is to be patched. With two similar tools the tyre of the front wheel slowly begin to open at the cycle shop owner.
Half of the tyre from the rim is opened and then from it he opens the tube which is inside of tyre and he became careful while opening the tube at the side of breaks as it is necessary otherwise there could have been cut or damage to the tube of it. He carefully removes three fourth of a tube. WIth the tool he lowered the tube nearer to the break point of bicycle and then, slowly move out the tube. Then, he asked the boy to reach the cycle pump and then he attaches the face of it with volt-tube of cycle and asks the boy to pump it out.
The boy pumped the bicycle tube and then the man brings about the pot which has water into it and then dip the every part of tube into it and then slowly, checks this out and wait for the evolving bubbles from it so that ultimately, he could find the leak portion and he continue to check with it by dipping each part of tube and after completing almost three fourth part of it he then drive out the rest part from the tyre and then slowly checks this out.
At one point of the tube where there was earlier patch work done, the bubbles flow out from water. The cycle repair shop uses the same age old science tradition where the air takes the shape of bubbles when it comes out from water and thus catch the leak portion as with the fully pumped tube the leaked portions could have the air slowly coming out from it and thus now it is time to remove all the air from the tube and then he with the help of sandpaper cleans out the areas where the leaked of tube been discovered.
He brushed sand paper at the leaked area and the portion of the tube becomes rugged and then he blows air from the mouth to make that surface even. Then, he brought out the gum which is red and attach that to the leaked area with his thumb and then from the older cycle tube which is unused of course he cut one square area and then attack the red gum and then he attach that square tube into the leaked portion and then blows air from his mouth to make that surface smoother.
Then, he placed that part of tube on a small iron roller and by using the tool or iron tool he slowly hit that stitched part of tube and it continues for some seconds and then he include that tube into tyre and rim and then ask the boy to pump the tube.
What he deliberately does not do is that after patching the tube he does not check that again with water, nevertheless, the pumped inside the tube remains and the boy ask the repair shop owner about the price of it and he said it is about 20 rupees as only one patch work is done and if more than one patch work then it should be 25 rupees and the pricing factor goes on like this.
What I learnt from this is just not a rocket science to perform, patch work upon the leaked tube of bicycles. That is, why it is important for every bicycle owners to learn these tips and tricks so that in the times of need you could do it manually at home without going towards a cycle repair shop. It is important to keep one hand pump for pumping of cycle tube at home so that from time to time you do not need to reach out to a cycle repair shop as you can do it comfortably at home.
